If there were such a thing as a Charm Award for naturist campgrounds, Rock Haven Lodge would win it hands‑down. From the moment we rolled in, Tim and I felt like we had stepped into a place overflowing with personality, history, and heart.

Established in 1969, Rock Haven Lodge has been a dedicated nudist retreat for over 50 years. Associated with the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), it has a wonderfully warm, neighborhood atmosphere.
What stood out to us right away was how clean and beautifully maintained everything is. The residents take immense pride in their homes—around 95% of the 64 permanent sites are decorated with whimsical signs, fun yard ornaments, and immaculate landscaping. Even the 5 full-hookup RV sites and the separate, lushly wooded tent camping area feel like part of a close-knit community.
Amenities Galore
Rock Haven Lodge has everything. A pool, a hot tub, volleyball, pickleball, tennis, shuffleboard, darts, ping‑pong, a playground for kids — you name it. We heard their dart tournaments can get pretty competitive.
The pavilion is huge and lively, and the convenience store surprised us with how well stocked it was: snacks, water, ice, sunscreen, shampoo, ice cream (yes, we indulged), even towels. If you forgot something, they’ve got you covered.
The bathhouses are spotless and full of personality. The whimsical signs alone make going to the bathroom fun. The women’s bathhouse even had lotions and a hair dryer — thoughtful touches you don’t always find at campgrounds.
Quirky, Unique, and Full of Character
This place has charm in spades. My favorite thing? The miniature train that runs throughout the property. And no — it’s not just a tiny Christmas‑tree train. You can actually ride it. The cars have benches and everything. It wasn’t running during our visit, but it was still adorable.
Tim’s favorite? The old fire truck. As a kid who once dreamed of being a fireman, he was fascinated. And get this — it’s a working fire truck. If they ever needed it, they could actually use it.
There’s also a dog park with a memorial wall honoring past resident pups, and across from it, what looked like a small pet cemetery. And for humans, there’s a memorial garden filled with personal items representing each person — a Dr Pepper can, a soccer ball, flip‑flops, grilling utensils. It’s touching, creative, and deeply meaningful.
Activities That Bring Everyone Together
A big activity at Rock Haven is the remote‑control car races. They have an actual track, and races happen every other week. It’s competitive, sometimes even a demolition derby, and the season‑long competition is a big deal. We missed race weekend, but we did get to see some of the cars.
The people here are incredibly friendly and inclusive. We spent time chatting in the pool and even joined a trivia night. They partner you up by table, so you meet new people instantly. We weren’t great at trivia, but we had a blast.
On weekends, they serve meals — dinner Friday, breakfast/lunch/dinner Saturday, and breakfast/lunch Sunday. And the highlight? A guy who makes specialty coffee and fresh pastries on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We definitely enjoyed those.
A Community That Embraces You
Rock Haven Lodge has won several awards for being one of the best naturist places in Tennessee, and it’s easy to see why. The vibe is friendly, fun, and welcoming. We met a couple who recently purchased a site after visiting for years. Their place had a surf vibe and a sign that said “Stay Weird.” It was perfect.
