Hidden Lake Resort in Jay, Florida, may be one of the most perfectly named naturist resorts we’ve visited. Tucked away in the Florida panhandle, this small, welcoming campground feels like a true hidden gem—especially because of its beautiful Blue Lagoon.
It sits on approximately 110 acres and combines wooded areas, hiking trails, gardens, an orchard, campsites, and an eight-acre lake.
The property feels rustic, but in the best possible way. It has character, natural beauty, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.
The Blue Lagoon at Hidden Lake Resort
Our favorite feature of Hidden Lake Resort was the Blue Lagoon.
The lagoon is a man-made swimming area fed by spring water and well water. They use an additive to give the water its distinctive blue color, creating a truly beautiful tropical appearance.
The lagoon has a sandy beach area with chairs where visitors can relax, enjoy the sunshine, or take a refreshing swim. When we visited, the water temperature was wonderful—not too hot and not too cold. In some areas, we could even feel the warmth of the spring water.
The Blue Lagoon was the centerpiece of our stay. It was beautiful, relaxing, and full of character. If you enjoy spending time near the water, this alone makes Hidden Lake Resort worth visiting.
RV Camping at Hidden Lake Resort
Hidden Lake Resort has 25 campsites, including rental accommodations and long-term residential sites. There are also 10 permanent full-time residence sites.
We parked Roadie near the lake. Opening the rear doors each morning and looking out at the water was one of our favorite parts of the stay.
The campsites were spacious, and the grounds were clean and well maintained. We also enjoyed the natural surroundings, including the trails, trees, and wildlife. One morning, a family of ducks wandered right up to our campsite to say good morning.
Hiking Trails, Gardens, and Natural Beauty
Hidden Lake Resort has hiking trails that wind through much of the wooded property. During our visit, we explored several of the trails and enjoyed seeing the resort beyond the campsites and lagoon.
The property also includes garden fields and an orchard. These features add to the feeling that Hidden Lake is more than just a campground. It’s a private, natural retreat with a strong connection to the land.
We appreciated how peaceful the grounds felt. Even though the resort hosts community events and welcomes day visitors, there are plenty of places to enjoy a quiet walk or relax in nature.
Amenities at Hidden Lake Resort
The facilities at Hidden Lake Resort are practical and functional. The bathhouse is unisex and includes hot and cold water, bathrooms, and multiple shower stalls.
The resort also has a clubhouse with a full-size kitchen, oven, microwave and refrigerator that can be used by guests. There are tables for potlucks and group gatherings and a beautiful deck overlooking the lake.
Fishing and Boating Equipment
One feature we thought was especially nice was the free use of fishing and boating equipment.
Visitors can borrow fishing gear, canoes, kayaks and a paddle boat. There is also a fish-cleaning station available for guests. We didn’t have time to take advantage of all these activities during our visit, but we would definitely try them on a future trip.
Having access to boats and fishing equipment makes it easy to enjoy the lake without bringing a lot of extra gear.
Weekend Activities and Community Events
Hidden Lake Resort offers regular activities, especially on weekends. During the week, the resort is generally quieter, but there is always something happening on Friday and Saturday nights.
Regular and seasonal activities include:
- Campfires every Friday and Saturday night
- DJ karaoke
- Occasional movie nights
- Monthly themed potlucks
- Wagon rides on holiday weekends
- Camper crawls
- Two annual 5K races
- Halloween weekend activities
- Cardboard boat races in August
- July 4th fireworks over the lake
That sense of community is one of the things we enjoy most about naturist travel.
The History of Hidden Lake Resort
Hidden Lake Resort has a long family history.
The property is currently owned by Tim, who represents the fourth generation of the family. The surrounding family land is held in a trust and can not be sold, divided, or developed, which helps preserve the resort’s private and peaceful setting.
The property also has a connection to the town of Jay. The town was named after Tim’s great-grandfather, whose first initial was J. He later became the town’s first postmaster.
Several generations of the family still live on the property, including members of the fifth and sixth generations. That history gives Hidden Lake Resort a sense of place that is difficult to duplicate.
Hidden Lake Resort Membership Benefits
Hidden Lake Resort has approximately 100 to 125 members. Many members live within an hour or two of the property, making it convenient for frequent weekend visits.

- Another row of campsites
These improvements could provide more options for tent campers, RV travelers, and visitors who prefer a more relaxing soaking experience.
Our Overall Impression of Hidden Lake Resort
After spending a couple of days at Hidden Lake Resort, we both agreed that it is absolutely worth visiting if you enjoy naturist travel, RV camping, peaceful surroundings, and friendly community events.
It may not be the right destination for someone looking for a large resort with extensive modern amenities and a packed daily activity schedule. But if you prefer a smaller, quieter, more personal experience, Hidden Lake Resort could be exactly what you’re looking for.
The Blue Lagoon is beautiful, the campsites are comfortable, and the property offers plenty of opportunities to relax, explore, and connect with other naturists.
When we say Hidden Lake Resort is a hidden gem, we mean it. We would definitely return—and next time, we hope to spend more time fishing, exploring the trails, and enjoying the lagoon.
